Commodore computers' nostalgia...
My friends,
since this forum is dedicated to the 80' s, I think it' s nice to put also some videos that concern a piece of history of that decade... I' m talking about the Commodore 64, and here in this youtube video clip you can find one hundred amongst the most famous games that were created for that machine... take a look...
... moreover, I would like also to share with you other two youtube clips... these are two demos that were made recently for the other series of the Commodore computer machines, in specific the 264 series (Commodore 16 and Plus/4, that were less famous that the C64, but without doubt more powerful... Plus/4 was my first computer when I was a kid, I had it before the C64 and I still love it...) I'm sure you will like them...
This one is called "Threeve" and is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful demos for the C16 and Plus/4... the graphics is astonishing and most of all the sound... it' s funny to see how a chip that was dedicated both for graphic and sound (instead of C64 that had two separate chips, the VIC II for the graphic and the SID for the sound, the C16 and the Plussy had only the TED chip) and had only two square wave tone generators can also produce a cute drum and bass track... here it is...
This other is called "Shade" and is a clone of an Amiga demo... we can say this is the 8-bit conversion... also this one is stunning... but there is need to say that this is a tricky demo, because a SID card is used on the Plus/4, so the sound isn' t the original TED one... enjoy it !!!!
See ya !!!!

Μόνο αναμνήσεις, lou;

Here are some images of my very first computer (they are taken from the internet...) the less known Commodore Plus/4...
The computer itself, with the power supply, a joystick and the Datassette 1531 (with some cassettes...)
The starting screen of the Plussy...
This was a pattern that used to appear in various occasions...
... and in many occasions, blocking also the normal execution of games and programs... these reverse bars are the bitmap visualization of the memory location that hosted the graphic part... it can also be produced by the user by typing "GRAPHIC 1,0" and hitting return...
In particular...
the BRK instructions produced a black pixel...
... and the FF instructions, produced the light green ones...
The package of the computer...
To complete this message, let me insert two youtube videoclips... two Plus/4 games that I liked very much (memories of my childhood...) see how they are less rich of graphic and sound compared to the C64' s ones... but the imagination did all the work...
First, this is "Atlantis"...
... and then "Varmit"...
(only a square wave for the music and the TED white noise for the sound effects... but for me these games are better than any others !!!!)

How many of you have played "Microprose Soccer" on the Commodore 64 ????
This was in absolute my favorite game... I remember I started playing it in 1991 and I used to lose every match, even taking the strongest teams like Brazil or Italy or Argentina... well, nowadays, in 2010, I am sick of playing it because, even with the weakest team, the Oman, I can beat Brazil also for ten goals to zero haha... anyway, here it is the clip... here, the friend on youtube who posted the clip uses the Hungary as his team... I remember I used New Zealand, Oman or Australia...
PS: Don' t miss this other video clip... here, a Greek coder named "mathfigure" (a real genius in my opinion) is showing how to enter into the hidden memory of the C64 ad to hack and modify "Cataball" and how to loop the computer using the machine code... here it is...

Talking honestly, I keep on thinkin you have a secret weapon inside yourself Anna... (just kidding...)
Another game... here, nothing special with this one, a sort of poor version of the most famous "1942" game made for the Commodore 64... this game is called "Reach for the sky" and was concepted for the Commodore 16 and the Commodore Plus/4... hours spent playing on it...
